Swimming and Diving Blog: Results from the GHSA Swimming and Diving State Championships

After another exhilarating season of GHSA Swimming and Diving in which the best swimmers and divers once again went head to head for state championship glory, the focus moves to the off-season as teams across the state will be replacing top-talent across the board.

One of the many bright spots in this season’s state championships is how the Packers from Colquitt County continue to dominate the diving state championships, having four divers place on the podium.

The Packers were led by a first and second place finish from the Gregory brothers as Tuck finished in first for the second year in a row, scoring 757.55 points followed by his younger brother, Trip,  in second place, scoring 669.55 points.

The Packers will have to fill the void that the older Gregory brother leaves as he will continue his diving career at Miami (OH).

Also earning podium finishes for Colquitt County was Jewel Hart in first place, scoring 613.45 points and Kendall Deloach finishing in third with 602.42 points.

Another defending champion earning back-to-back state championship honors, Wesleyan’s Abbey Suits, continued her state championship streak, defending her Class 1A-3A state title from a year ago. Suits, an Auburn-commit, will have another year of high school diving before heading across state lines to continue her diving career. Suits scored 628.60 points to claim another state championship.

On the swimming side of the state championships, Dunwoody swimmer and Georgia-commit Luke Sandberg was able to dominate the Freestyle events, placing first in both the 100-yard Freestyle and the 200-yard Freestyle, giving the Wildcats a jump in points.

The Brookwood Broncos were able to take home both the boys and girls Class 6A state championships for the first time since 2019. The boys were led by Cal-commit William Stanton who finished first in multiple events such as the 200-yard Individual Medley as well as the 100-yard backstroke to help lift the Broncos to victory.

On the girls side in Class 6A for Brookwood, Nicole Amike played a pivotal role in helping the Broncos win a state championship winning the 100-yard Freestyle as well as the 50-yard Freestyle to secure the victory.

In Class 1A-3A, the Greater Atlanta Chrisitan swim team placed first on the boys side and second in the girls as they had a successful time at the state championships. Both of the boys and the girls teams finished first in the 200-yard Medley Relay as well as having multiple first place finishes in individual events. Class of 2026 swimmer, James Sorensen finished first in the 100-yard Backstroke (49.04) as well as Madeline House and Abigail Heizer combining for three podium finishes. House finished first in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:51.09) as Heizer finished first in two events such as the 50-yard Freestyle (22.98) and the 100-yard Freestyle (50.10).
