Two prestigious wrestling meets occurred over the weekend and several teams earned their ways to higher rankings as a result. Archer won the Sham Slam to continue its domination of the state wrestling scene this year. Chattahoochee made an impressive showing in finishing sixth. As a result, the Cougars moved to No. 4 in Class AAAAAA.
Cambridge came in ninth in the Sham and moved into the top five in Class AAAAA. South Forsyth came in 11th and debuted in the post-duals poll at No. 7.
Carrollton jumped into the poll in Class AAAA and Lumpkin County moved up to No. 2.
In Class AAAA, Elbert County debuted and, in Class AA, GAC and Lovett swapped spots after the Spartans finished higher than the Lions in the Prep Slam meet at Holy Innocents’.
In Class A, Darlington climbed into the top five after an eye-opening performance at Holy Innocents’.
