Wolves block unprecedented three punts in runaway victory

The football team kicked off the season at home last Friday with an impressive 35-0 win over the struggling Clarkston Angoras (13 consecutive losses). The special teams shined for the Wolves early by blocking three of the Angoras’ first four punt attempts. Starting quarterback Conor Welton dislocated his shoulder in the first quarter but backup quarterback Drew Fithian played well throughout, throwing a touchdown to senior Lee Ellis in the third quarter. The Wolves will travel to Darlington this Friday at 7:30 p.m. … The softball team improved to 4-0 last Thursday with a 5-1 win over Fellowship Christian. The Lady Wolves will host Jefferson on Wednesday at 4 p.m. … Senior Anne Marie Armstrong, a three-time volleyball state champion and a multi-sport athlete, was featured in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd. The volleyball team is 9-2 this season and travels to Fellowship Christian Wednesday to battle Fellowship Christian and Blessed Trinity. … Both the boys and girls cross country teams will be back in action this Saturday for the Clara Bowl at Berry College.
