Williams rushes Milton all the way to victory, 51-49

The football team kicked off the season last Friday with a win against Chattahoochee 51-49. Heading into the game, head coach Scott Walker wanted the team to focus on being physical and running the football, which they certainly did: running back Toney Williams rushed for 350 yards and six touchdowns. The Eagles managed to break their losing streak against Chattahoochee, coming away with their first win against the Cougars in five years. The Eagles will travel to Campbell on Friday (7:30 p.m.). … In their first region matchup of the season, the softball team beat Wheeler 14-1 last Thursday, giving them an overall record of 3-5. The Eagles also played Sequoyah on Tuesday, but results were unavailable at press time. The Eagles will play Walton on Thursday (5:55 p.m.) and Kennesaw Mountain on Saturday (11 a.m.), and both games are at home. The team will also travel to Pope on Tuesday (5:55 p.m.). … The volleyball team played both Norcross and Walton on Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time. On Thursday, the Eagles will play Lassiter and Cherokee (5 p.m. and 7 p.m.) at home.
