It wasn’t the game that everyone expected, but favorite Alabama defeated Texas 37-21 in the BCS National Championship Game in Pasadena on Thursday night. A disappointing night for Texas (13-1) began when senior quarterback Colt McCoy took a shot to his throwing shoulder on the Longhorns’ first drive, knocking the Heisman finalist out of the game. True freshman Garrett Gilbert stepped in to play the rest of the game. From there, it was a run-dominated Alabama offense, highlighted by Heisman winner Mark Ingram and freshman Trent Richardson, that wore down a stout Texas defense.
