Whitefield Academy lacrosse extends streak

A relatively quiet week for lacrosse still featured some outstanding performances from some of the state’s top teams. The Class A-AAAAA No. 8 Whitefield Academy boys took out No. 6 McIntosh 14-10 Wednesday as Dallas Darling scored four goals with two assists as Whitefield Academy won its seventh straight game. In all, seven different players scored for Whitefield Academy in the victory. Sam Hermon and Doug Learnard each scored two goals for McIntosh. … In other Wednesday action, No. 5 Westminster clobbered Riverwood 15-4 and Alpharetta blasted West Forsyth 16-6. Dunwoody lost to Florida power Stanton Prep 8-4. It was the second loss in as many days for Dunwoody, who lost to Flagler Palm Coast (Fla.) 15-6 on Tuesday. Class AAAAAA No. 5 North Gwinnett defeated Mandarin (Fla.) 15-1 on Tuesday while Class A-AAAAA No. 9 Holy Innocents’ took out Darlington 18-4. Darlington’s four goals came from the sticks of Alex Berry, Trey Edge, Collin Sheffield and Sam Talley. … In perhaps the showdown of the night, Class AAAAAA No. 2 Centennial dominated Class A-AAAAA No. 10 Marist 14-5. … In girls action, Blessed Trinity pitched a shutout of North Springs Wednesday, winning 20-0. The Titans are ranked No. 9 in the A-AAAAA poll. … Class AAAAAA No. 6 Chattahoochee earned a 17-5 win over Lambert Tuesday while A-AAAAA powers No. 4 McIntosh and No. 5 Northview also won. … The Wesleyan girls received eight goals from Courtney O’Leary to take down North Forsyth 17-7. Lindsay Moore added four goals for the Wildcats in Tuesday’s victory.
