As the girls soccer season nears its conclusion, some major changes have occurred in the Week 8 rankings.
One of the few stable classifications was 6A. Even though two teams lost in the past week, neither was a bad loss, and every team maintained its position.
5A saw three major changes. At the top, Lassiter fell from No. 2 to No. 6 after losses to Pope and Allatoona. At the bottom, Johns Creek and Alexander exited the rankings, being replaced by Villa Rica at No. 9 and Riverwood at No. 10.
4A saw one major change with former No. 1 North Oconee dropping from the top spot to No. 5 after a loss to Jackson County. They were replaced by Blessed Trinity at No. 1. In addition, Cambridge jumped Marist for the No. 2 spot after Marist’s loss to Walton.
In Class 3A, Northwest Whitfield fell out of the rankings and was replaced by Whitewater. Four teams also shuffled in the middle of the rankings, with Lumpkin County and Oconee County dropping to No. 6 and No. 7, while Richmond Academy and Sandy Creek moved up to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
The 2A classification was mostly stable, with the only major change being Sonoraville moving up from No. 5 to No. 3, jumping Morgan County and Callaway.
Class A Division I only saw slight movement. No. 3 Social Circle fell to No. 4, being replaced by Model. Former No. 6 Jeff Davis swapped places with No. 7 Lamar County, and Worth County fell to No. 10 after a loss to Irwin County.
Class A Division II had two teams drop out of the rankings toward the bottom. Atkinson County fell out after losses to Coffee and Metter, being replaced by Darlington at No. 9. Former No. 9 Hawkinsville also fell out after a loss to Georgia Military, and was replaced by the Bulldogs at No. 10.
After a few weeks of major movement, Class A-3A Private stabilized this past week with only one team moving. Walker fell out of the rankings after losses to Paideia and Whitefield Academy, and was replaced by Whitefield Academy.
