Week 8 girls basketball rankings

Jefferson takes over Class AAA’s top-spot after former No. 1 Morgan County fell to No. 4 Hart County on Tuesday. Morgan slides to No. 2 with Johnson-Savannah taking the No. 3 spot. Hart County, previously fifth, moved up to fourth and Savannah’s Beach slid to fifth this week.

Dodge County is the team to beat in Class AA this week. Dodge is 17-1 and 8-0 in the region following its 60-25 dismantling of Northeast on Tuesday. Fitzgerald holds the No. 2 spot ahead of Rabun County (No. 3) and Laney (No. 4). Swainsboro holds the No. 5 spot in this week’s poll.

In Class A-Public, Marion County is leading with a 17-0, 9-0 record. Marion defeated Central-Talbotton 76-44 on Tuesday. Greenville is No. 2 with No. 3 Telfair County, No. 4 Calhoun County and No. 5 Bowdon chasing. In Class A-Private, Jan Azar’s Wesleyan Wolves are the team to beat again this week. St. Francis is second with Holy Innocents’, Lakeview Academy and Stratford making up the top-5.

    How in the world is Laney only ranked #4 in AA rankings after winning the last 2 championships…not to mention 3 out of the last 4 …and was on a 64 game winning streak…and starting out 19-1 this season? This is clearly disrespectful!
