The Brookwood Broncos have solidified themselves as one of the premier contenders in 6A, defeating North Gwinnett last week to move to 14-0 and climb to No. 4 in the rankings. After their loss, North Gwinnett fell from third to seventh but remains a major contender.
The only change in 5A was the addition of Lakeside DeKalb at No. 10. They replaced Houston County after a loss last week. The rest of the rankings remained the same.
4A saw some major changes, as Northside-Columbus and Harris County fell to No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, after losses to Starr’s Mill. Allatoona took advantage of their fall, moving up from No. 7 to No. 5. At the bottom, Pace Academy dropped to No. 10 after a loss to Midtown. Midtown swapped places with Pace, climbing from No. 10 to No. 8.
3A saw very little movement; however, Sandy Creek fell from No. 5 to No. 7 after the team’s first loss of the season, allowing Oconee County and Richmond Academy to move up to No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Similarly to 3A, 2A only saw one team drop, Coahulla Creek, which fell from No. 5 to No. 7 after a loss to Dalton. Sonoraville and Pierce County capitalized, each moving up one spot.
The two smallest and private classifications saw significant movement this past week. In Class A-Division 1, there is a new top two. Bremen is now No. 1, moving up from No. 4 after a win over Model. Former No. 1 and No. 2, Social Circle and Model, fell to No. 3 and No. 4 after losses. ACE Charter moved up to No. 2. At the bottom, Lamar County jumped from No. 9 to No. 7 after a big win over Social Circle. Swainsboro fell out of the rankings after two straight losses and was replaced by Dodge County.
In Class A-Division 2, No. 2 Atlanta Classical fell to No. 4 after a loss to Elite Scholars. Georgia Military dropped out of the rankings after a loss to Treutlen. The Bulldogs were replaced by Elite Scholars, who have started the season 5-2.
For the first time this season, the private classification has a new No. 1. Savannah Arts replaced GAC after the Spartans lost to Lovett. Lovett moved up from No. 5 to No. 2 after their big win. GAC fell to No. 3, while Savannah Country Day and Fellowship Christian each dropped one spot after being leapfrogged by Lovett.
