Week 7 Football Rankings

In Class 6A, No. 1 Carrollton was off this week and will return to action this Friday against Westlake. No. 2 Buford will come off a bye and square off with No. 8 Collins Hill this Friday. Region 1 was unable to start its region games this week and so the positions of Valdosta, Camden County and Colquitt County did not change and undefeated Richmond Hill and Lowndes will have to wait one more week to potentially shake up the poll. Collins Hill improved to 6-0 with a 51-0 win over Mountain View and remains at No. 8 and No. 10 Colquitt is 3-2 with its two losses coming to North Gwinnett and Lee County. As a result, the poll did not shift this week.

No. 1 Milton kept rolling in their 44-7 region win against Seckinger. No. 2 Hughes was idle this week. No. 3 Lee County opened up with a 35-23 Region 2-5A victory against No. 6 Thomas County Central and moved up three spots in the rankings. No. 4 Coffee dominated Northside-Warner Robins in a 41-0 win and will face Lee County this upcoming week. No. 5 Gainesville shut out Johns Creek 48-0. No. 7 Houston County defeated Veterans 56-0. No. 8 Roswell was idle this week. No. 9 Decatur defeated Dunwoody 28-14. No. 10 Rome was idle this week.

No. 1 Sandy Creek was idle this week. No. 2 Peach County handed No. 6 Westover its first loss of the season. QB DJ Hudson put on another strong performance. No. 3 Long County was idle this week. No. 4 Monroe Area defeated East Hall 48-42. No. 5 Jefferson handled West Hall in a 49-7 victory. No. 7 LaGrange was idle this week. No. 8 Cherokee Bluff had to reschedule their game this past week after Hurricane Helene. No. 9 Northwest Whitfield suffered its first loss of the season to Heritage-Catoosa. No. 10 Douglass-Atlanta reenters the poll after Mary Persons had its wins vacated falling to 0-4 and lost to Upson-Lee this past week.

Class 4A did not shift this week. No. 1 North Oconee improved to 6-0 with a 49-7 win over Cedar Shoals No. 2 Marist improved to 5-0 with a 47-14 win over Southwest DeKalb. No. 7 Eastside also picked up an impressive 37-7 win over Madison County and No. 9 Cambridge held court with East Coweta in a hard-fought 30-21 victory.

In Class 2A, No. 1 Pierce County’s game against Vidalia was cancelled and No. 2 Morgan County held on for a wild 35-32 win over Westside-Macon. No. 5 Appling County’s premier matchup with Fitzgerald was also cancelled.

No. 1 Toombs County had its game canceled against Tattnall County. No. 2 Dublin and No. 3 Fitzgerald had idle weeks. No. 4 Fannin County keeps rolling and has produced shutouts in two of its last three contests. No. 5 Thomasville had an idle week. No. 6 Rabun County defeated Providence Christian 50-14. No. 7 Dodge County picked up a 49-0 win against Southwest. No. 8 Northeast had an idle week. No. 9 Lamar County makes its debut in the poll after a 19-16 victory against McNair. No. 10 Jeff Davis suffered a second region loss against Thomasville and is clinging on to the final spot in the rankings. Bremen falls out of the poll for the first time this season.

No. 1 Bowdon kept rolling, handling Washington in a 42-18 win. No. 2 Irwin County had an idle week. No. 3 Manchester handed Trion its first loss of the season in a 34-7 victory and dominated all four quarters. No. 4 Clinch County was idle this week. No. 5 Greene County shutout Miller Grove in a 33-0 victory. No. 6 Metter and No. 7 Lincoln County had idle weeks. No. 8 Trion suffered its first loss of the season to Manchester. No. 9 Seminole County defeated Early County 28-12 No. 10 Brooks County picked up a 49-0 victory against Turner County.

In Class A-3A Private, No. 1 Savannah Christian’s matchup with Blessed Trinity was cancelled and a major result was Darlington holding on for a dramatic 21-20 win over rival Pepperell to remain at No. 10 this week in the poll.
