In Class AAAAAAA, Lambert moved to No. 2 after Lassiter defeated previous No. 2 North Cobb last Thursday 3-1. Lambert defeated Lassiter 3-1 on Sept. 8 and therefore edges the No. 3 Trojans and new No. 4 North Cobb in this week’s poll. No. 8 North Gwinnett held off No. 9 Mill Creek 2-1 in the County semifinals over to preserve its standing.
Cambridge made noise in Class AAAAAA and jumped to No. 3 in this week’s poll after scoring two victories over previous No. 2 Johns Creek. The Bears are 20-9 on the year and come in behind No. 2 Harrison, which defeated them on Aug. 27 in straight sets. Grovetown used a 2-1 win over Lakeside-Evans to make its poll debut this week at No. 8.
Blessed Trinity reclaimed No. 1 in Class AAAA after winning its last 18 instate opponents, including North Cobb Christian, Sequoyah, North Oconee, Dunwoody, Etowah and Harrison on Saturday. Woodward Academy swept St. Pius 3-0 last week to bump the Golden Lions to No. 3.
