Week 5 Football Rankings

In Class 6A, Carrollton took over No. 1 and Buford moved up to No. 2 after defeating Douglas County on the road this Friday. Class 4A saw Warner Robins and Benedictine shift up and Cedartown replace Cass in the poll. No. 1 Milton handed Blessed Trinity its first loss of the season in a 28-14 win. The Eagles have another notable win on their already impressive resume. No. 2 Hughes got back to its winning ways after a 56-3 win against Banneker. No. 3 Thomas County Central defeated Bainbridge 63-7. No. 4 Coffee leaned on Tyrese Woodgett’s three touchdowns in a 27-14 win against Gadsden County (FL). No. 5 Gainesville suffered its first loss of the season under top-ranked Carrollton. No. 6 Lee County kept rolling and scored 47 points in their win against Colquitt County. No. 7 Houston County picked up a 42-19 win against Tift County. No. 8 Roswell outlasted Westlake in their 42-35 win. No. 9 Decatur makes the poll for the first time this season after a 4-0 start. No. 10 Rome reenters the poll after a dominant 27-7 victory in region play against East Paulding. East Paulding and Sequoyah slid out of the poll.

No. 1 Sandy Creek continues to establish itself as a state title contender after its 31-0 victory against top 10 Upson-Lee. No. 2 Monroe Area handed Walnut Grove its first loss of the season in their 14-10 win. No. 3 Peach County was idle this week. No. 4 Long County’s defense continues to impress and they’ve given up an average of 7.5 points per game. No. 5 Westover kept rolling and picked up a 44-7 win against Griffin. No. 6 Jefferson was shutout against top-ranked North Oconee on Friday Night. No. 7 LaGrange scored the second-highest points of the season in a 42-3 win against Fayette County. No. 8 Northwest Whitfield defeated Southeast Whitfield 43-7. No. 9 Mary Persons suffered its first loss of the season to Troup County. No. 10 Upson-Lee struggled offensively against Sandy Creek.

No. 1 Toombs County moved to 4-0 after a 56-18 win against Charlton County. No. 2 Dublin had an idle week. No. 3 Fitzgerald defeated Brooks County 23-13 after their bye week. No. 4 Fannin County cruised to a shutout 42-0 victory against Coosa. No. 5 Thomasville had an idle week. No. 6 Rabun County finished off Bremen with a late rushing touchdown by Lake Evans to pick up its third win. No. 7 Bleckley County retains its ranking. No. 8 Jeff Davis makes its debut in the poll. No. 9 Bremen lost a close one to No.6 Rabun County. No. 10 Model was on an idle week. Coosa drops out of the poll.

No. 1 Bowdon moved to 4-1 on the season after their 35-21 win against Heard County. No. 2 Irwin County has scored 55 points or more in three of its first four games this season and picked up a 55-7 win against Dooly County. No. 3 Manchester had an idle week. No. 4 Clinch County handed Mitchell County its first loss of the season in a 28-8 win. No. 5 Seminole County suffered its first loss of the season to Pelham in a defensive battle. No. 6 Trion is now 5-0 on the season after defeating LaFayette 50-21. No. 7 Greene County got back to its winning ways in a 14-8 win against Laney. No. 8 Metter scored a season-high 49 points against Savannah in a shutout  No.9 Lincoln County moved to 4-0 after a two-touchdown performance from Jonathan Norman. No. 10 Brooks County fell to Fitzgerald 23-13.
