Week 4 Football Rankings

In Class 6A, Douglas County maintained its spot at No. 1 with a gritty 21-14 win over Hughes. The Tigers came off a short week after their win over Newton last Saturday and overcame a 14-6 deficit to score a 21-14 victory. No. 2 Carrollton was led by Julian Lewis’ six-touchdown performance as the Trojans topped Lithia Springs 63-0. North Gwinnett held on to its spot at No. 3 after pulling out a 37-34 win over No. 5 Mill Creek. At No. 10, Walton exited the poll after dropping back-to-back losses for the first time since 2020 and was replaced by North Cobb after the Warriors’ 43-14 win over Cass.

No. 1 Milton, No. 2 Gainesville, No. 5 Coffee, and No. 6 Lee County all enjoyed idle weeks. No. 3 Hughes suffered its first loss of the season to No. 1 Douglas County in a competitive game that came down to the end. No. 4 Thomas County Central defeated rival Thomasville this past week. No. 7 Houston County lost a shootout to Warner Robins. No. 8 Hiram picked up a 38-27 road win against Hiram. No. 9 Roswell lost to 6A power Buford. No. 10 Sequoyah made its debut in the poll after a 50-7 win against Riverwood. Sequoyah also has a notable win against Kell this season and is 4-0. Rome slid out of the poll after falling to 0-2.

In Class 4A, No. 1 North Oconee cruised to a 36-13 win over Clarke Central. No. 2 Marist was off on a bye and No. 3 Cartersville stamped a 35-13 win over Calhoun to improve to 4-0. Warner Robins replaced Cass at No. 5 after defeating Houston County 54-44 and Benedictine moved up to No. 6 after its previous one-point loss to Buford was boosted by the Wolves’ dominant 52-17 win over Roswell.

No. 1 Sandy Creek had an idle week. No. 2 Monroe Area had their game canceled against Aplachee after the shooting that left four dead and nine injured. No. 3 Peach County defeated Crisp County 35-7 this past week. No. 4 Jefferson handed Stephens County their first loss of the season in their 45-28 win. No. 5 Upson-Lee defeated Spalding 16-13 in a defensive battle. No. 6 Long County defeated Groves 38-6. No. 7 LaGrange got back to .500 after their 41-7 against Trinity Christian. No. 8 Mary Persons defeated Fayette County 55-0 and moved to 3-0 on the season. No. 9 Westover makes its debut in the poll after a 56-31 win against Westside-Macon. The Patriots are 3-0 to start the season. No. 10 Northwest Whitfield also made its debut in the poll for the first time this season. They had an idle week this past Friday but have defeated Coahulla Creek, North Murray, and Dalton. Troup County and Stephenson slid out of the poll.

In Class 2A, Morgan County moved up one spot to No. 2 after defeating Greene County 35-13 and avenging its only regular season loss last year in the process. Stephens County dropped just one slot to No. 3 after a 45-28 loss to Jefferson and Callaway replaced Cook at No. 7 after defeating the previously-No. 7 ranked Hornets 36-23.

No. 1 Toombs County continues to prove they are a state title contender after their road win against Rome where they came in the game as a 28-point underdog. Toombs County won 33-29 and was led by TJ Stanley and Mr. Georgia Football nominee Lagonza Hayward. No. 2 Dublin moved to 4-0 after another dominant win. This week they defeated Washington County 49-0. No. 3 Fitzgerald and No. 4 Fannin County moved up in the rankings after being idle this past week. No. 5 Thomasville suffered its first loss of the season to Thomas County Central. No. 6 Rabun County moved to 2-1 after a 35-13 win against Dalton. No. 7 Bleckley County lost a nail-biter to Southwest 30-29 this past week. After their star quarterback Carson Kimball suffered an injury the week prior against Bowdon, No. 8 Bremen rallied and defeated McNair 31-14. No. 9 Coosa defeated Ridgeland 28-6. No. 10 Model suffered its second loss of the season after falling to undefeated Trion 22-12.

No. 1 Bowdon moved to 3-1 on the season after their 56-27 win against Westside-Macon. No. 2 Irwin County and No. 3 Seminole County were both idle this week. No. 4 Manchester hit a new season-high in points in their 42-6 win against Macon County. No. 5 Clinch County moved to 4-0 after a 35-13 win against Berrien. No. 6 Brooks County defeated Worth County 26-7 and will face No. 3 Fitzgerald in Class A Div I in a top-ten showdown this Friday. No. 7 Trion picked up a top-ten win against Model this past Friday. No. 8 Greene County suffered its first loss of the season against Morgan County 35-13. No. 9 Metter had an idle week. No. 10 Lincoln County makes its debut in the Class A Div II poll for the first time and Schley County falls out of the poll after dropping to 1-3.

In Class A-3A Private, No. 2 Hebron Christian and No. 3 Prince Avenue Christian were on bye weeks and the other teams ranked 1-9 all scored wins. The lone change came at No. 10 where Whitefield Academy replaced Trinity Christian. The Wolfpack fell to No. 1 Savannah Christian in their season opener and have followed that defeat with back-to-back 35-14 wins over Mount Vernon and Social Circle to improve to 2-1.
