Week 3 Football Rankings

In Class 6A, No. 3 North Gwinnett topped Colquitt County 14-3 and sent the Packers down a spot to No. 6. Mill Creek moved up from No. 7 to No. 5 after a 48-14 win over Archer. Former No. 6 ranked Walton fell to Class 5A No. 8 Roswell 42-32 and dropped down to No. 10. Additionally, Collins Hill moved up a spot to No. 9 after a 44-13 win over Cedar Grove that improved the Eagles to 3-0. Class 5A No. 1 Milton shut out Alpharetta in their 58-0 win producing their first shutout of the season. Milton is nationally ranked in MaxPreps and ESPN. The Eagles will be idle this week before taking on Blessed Trinity. No. 2 Hughes was idle this week and retained their ranking. They will face top-ranked Douglas County. No. 3 Gainesville dominated Westlake 41-7 as Karim Hughley had five passing touchdowns. No. 4 Thomas County Central picked up an out-of-state win against Florida State High 63-28. No. 5 Coffee picked up their third win defeating Columbia County 40-13. No. 6 Houston County was led by another spectacular performance by Antwann Hill who passed for four touchdowns Friday night and led the Bears to a 31-17 victory over rival Perry. No. 7 Lee County continues its dominance and has been their first three opponents by an average of 42 points. No. 8 Roswell handed Walton its first loss of the season after picking up a 42-32 win. No. 9 Rome lost to Carrollton 44-22 but battled tough in the first half. No. 10 East Paulding made their debut in the poll after their 34-3 win against Paulding County.

In Class 4A, Perry dropped out of No. 1 after its 31-17 loss to Houston County and North Oconee took over the top spot. Marist climbed to No. 2 after a 38-0 win over Woodward Academy and Benedictine returned to the poll at No. 10. There was a big shake-up this week in the rankings as three new teams made their debuts. No. 1 Sandy Creek defeated LaGrange 27-7. Amari Latimer made his presence felt with multiple touchdowns on the night. No. 2 Monroe Area had an idle week. No. 3 Peach County defeated Berkmar 42-7. No. 4 Jefferson has won two consecutive games and handed Clarke Central its first loss of the season in a 42-14 win. No. 5 Troup County and No. 6 Upson-Lee were idle. No. 7 Long County defeated Johnson 42-0 and made its debut in the poll. No. 8 LaGrange fell to Sandy Creek 27-7. No. 9 Stephenson defeated Dutchtown 20-19 and made its debut. No. 10 Mary Persons made their debut in the poll and are 2-0. Douglass-Atlanta, Lumpkin County, and Dougherty drop out of the poll.

The Class 2A poll saw Stephens County replace Burke County at No. 2 and Morgan County use a massive 24-13 win over Oconee County to surge to No. 3 behind the Indians and No. 1 ranked Pierce County.

No. 1 Toombs County defeated South Effingham 49-0 and produced their first shutout of the season. No. 2 Dublin eclipsed 55 points for the second consecutive week defeating Southwest (Macon) 56-34. No. 3 Thomasville defeated Cairo 35-28 on Friday night. No. 4 Bleckley County picked up a 36-point victory against East Laurens. No. 5 Fitzgerald got back on track with a 25-7 win against Crisp County. No. 6 Fannin County leaned on QB Lawson Sullivan and RB Carson Callihan who combined for six touchdowns on Friday night in their 42-7 Victory against Union County. No. 7 Model defeated Coosa 23-13 and has now won four straight games in the series. No. 8 Rabun County had an idle week. No. 9 Bremen lost to Bremen 37-17 and QB Carson Kimball left the game with an injury. No. 10 Coosa lost to Model and led 9-6 at halftime before Model came back and won.

No. 1 Bowdon put together another dominant effort defeating Bremen 37-17 and looks like a team to beat in Class A Div II. No. 2 Irwin County picked up a top-ranked win against Schley County and handed them their second loss of the season. Minnesota commit Shane Marshall rushed for 185 yards and four touchdowns in the 60-35 win. No. 3 Seminole County defeated Sneads (FL) 38-13. No. 4 Manchester had an idle week. No. 5 Clinch County defeated Miller County 33-22. No. 6 Greene County defeated Haralson County 25-3. No. 7 Brooks County handed Cook its first loss of the season in their 45-14 win. No. 8 Trion makes its debut after its 42-15 win against Temple and 3-0 start to the season. No. 9 Metter suffered its first loss of the season against Swainsboro. No. 10 Schley County remains in the poll despite their loss and 1-2 start to the season. Johnson County and Macon County slid out of the poll. In Class A-3A Private, Athens Academy moved up from No. 6 to No. 4 and Lovett improved to No. 7.
