In Class 7A, the Walton Raiders take over No. 1 after a school-record 63-15 win over Brookwood. The 63 points scored are the most in school history and it was the second week in a row that the Raiders jumped out to a 35-0 lead against a ranked 7A opponent. Walton’s 49-27 Week 1 win over No. 9 Grayson and 63-15 Week 2 win over No. 10 Brookwood give the edge to the Raiders.
Milton’s out-of-state loss slid the Eagles down to No. 6 and Westlake ascended to No. 5. Additionally, North Cobb replaced Norcross in the poll and Grayson returned to No. 10 because of Milton’s loss and Collins Hill’s loss to Milton before its bye week. Collins Hill will face Brookwood next with an opportunity to return to the poll.
In Class 6A, Lee County replaced Woodward Academy at No. 5 and Roswell moved up to No. 2 from its previous spot at No. 4. The Class 5A poll saw Dutchtown replace Cass at No. 10 after the Colonels’ 0-2 start. In Class 4A, Troup replaced Bainbridge at No. 3 after Bainbridge’s loss to Coffee and Burke County and Wayne County moved up to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Cedar Grove stayed atop Class 3A despite a 50-42 loss to Florida’s Monarch. Calvary Day, Stephens County, Sandy Creek and Carver-Atlanta round out the top 5. In Class 2A, Fitzgerald is at the top with Thomson, Appling County, Pierce County and Callaway in the top 5. In Class A Division I, Prince Avenue Christian defeated Tennessee’s Nashville Christian 42-0 on the road and stays atop the class. Swainsboro, Irwin County, Bleckley County and Brooks County fill the top 5.
In Class A Division II, Schley County leads the way with Manchester, Early County, Macon County and Aquinas in the top 5.
