In Class 6A, Etowah earned the No. 1 spot after a blazing 5-0 start and replaced two-time defending champion Lowndes after defeating the Vikings 9-3 in the head-to-head season opener the two title contenders met in. Walton moved up to No. 2 from No. 4 after a 4-0 start and North Paulding’s 4-0 start moved the Wolfpack up from No. 7 to No. 3. Buford climbed from No. 8 to No. 4 with a 2-1 win over Parkview and sent the Panthers down from No. 3 to No. 5. Lowndes fell all the way to No. 6 after also dropping a 5-2 loss to Lambert before scoring a 4-0 victory over Starr’s Mill to achieve a 1-2 start. Lambert replaced Brookwood at No. 10 after the win and Grayson fell from No. 5 to No. 8 after two tough losses to Parkview (9-7) and Cherokee Bluff (12-3). Carrollton comes in at No. 9 this week after a strong 2-0 start that includes a 14-2 road win over Lassiter and an 8-2 road win over Richmond Hill.
Class 5A No. 1 ranked Houston County is off to a 3-0 start with wins over North Oconee, Alexander and Mary Persons. No. 2 Pope opened up with wins over Marietta and Marist and No. 3 Loganville scored wins over Oconee County and Mill Creek. Greenbrier slid just one spot to No. 5 after a loss to Class 3A No. 1 Harlem and a 2-1 win over Grovetown. Woodstock climbed to No. 6 and Lassiter moved down to No. 7.
Dunwoody debuted at No. 8 after a 3-1 start and replaced Gainesville in the poll after its 0-3 start. Kell moved up to No. 4 in Class 4A and St. Pius debuted with Allatoona after Perry and Union Grove were replaced in the poll. Redan moved up from No. 7 to No. 5 in Class 2A after its 2-0 start and wins over Jackson (10-5) and Gainesville (5-2).
