In Class 7A, Archer replaced Roswell in the polls after the Hornets fell 35-21 to Alpharetta. The Tigers come in at No. 10 and the rest of the top 10 remains in place. There was a lot of movement in Class 6A with Westlake moving up to No. 4 following Valdosta’s 41-7 loss to No. 1 ranked Lee County. Dacula jumped to No. 5 following Carrollton’s 23-22 loss to Alexander and Valdosta comes in at No. 7. Undefeated River Ridge (8-0) climbed from No. 10 to No. 6, Hughes comes in at No. 8 and Richmond Hill replaced Lovejoy in the top 10 after Lovejoy’s 51-0 loss to Westlake.
In Class 5A, Calhoun dropped from No. 5 to No. 7 after its 31-14 loss to No. 4 Cartersville. Class 4A saw Stephenson exit to rankings after a 12-10 loss to Hapeville Charter—which makes its return to the poll at No. 10. No. 1 ranked Marist scored a 49-0 win over Mill Grove to improve to 7-0 on the year. Marist’s defense has allowed just six points through seven games this season.
Cedar Grove remains the top team in Class 3A despite forfeiting four games because of its use of an ineligible player. Oconee County is No. 2 with Appling County, Peach County and Crisp County in the top 5 again this week.
Fitzgerald leads Class 2A again with a new No. 2, Rabun County, climbing near the top following Callaway’s slide to No. 10 from No. 2 after a loss to Haralson County. Haralson enters the poll at No. 8. Lovett, Thomasville and Early County round out the top 5.
Metter tops Class A Public with a new No. 2, Commerce, up from No. 3. Former No. 2 Irwin County fell to No. 5 after it lost to then-unranked Clinch County 13-0. Clinch enters at No. 9 this week. Dublin is upp from No. 5 to No. 3 with Brooks County at No. 4 again this week.
Prince Avenue Christian is at the top of Class A Private again with ELCA, Fellowship Christian, Athens Academy and Wesleyan making up a top 5 that did not shift.
