In Class AAAAAAA, top-ranked Lowndes closed out a perfect 10-0 regular season with a 28-17 win over No. 3 Colquitt County. Marietta’s 38-14 win over Hillgrove sent the Blue Devils up to No. 6 and dropped Hillgrove to No. 8.
In Class AAAAAA, No. 1 Dacula held off previously unbeaten Lanier 34-10, and dropped the Longhorns from No. 5 to No. 7 in the process. Also, Johns Creek made a jump from No. 7 to No. 5.
Buford is the team to beat in Class AAAAA heading into the season’s final week. Jones County, Carrollton, Dutchtown and Warner Robins round out the top 5.
In Class AAAA, undefeated Cartersville reclaimed the top spot after Marist fell in triple overtime to Blessed Trinity. There was also shuffling around seen in the back half of the poll. Carver-Columbus jumped to No. 6, West Laurens jumped from No. 10 to No. 7, Oconee County jumped from No. 9 to No. 8 and Flowery Branch (No. 9) and Cairo (No. 10) round out the top 10.
Peach County and Cedar Grove have topped the AAA poll each week this season and, entering the playoffs next week, these two are the favorite. Pierce County, Greater Atlanta Christian and Crisp County round out the top 5.
Rockmart is at the top of Class AA again this week after a 45-7 victory over Gordon Central last week. Dublin is No. 2 ahead of Callaway, Hapeville Charter and Rabun County.
Athens Academy leads Class A-Private with Holy Innocents’, Darlington, Eagle’s Landing Christian and Fellowship Christian making up the top 5. The Class A-Public poll did not change with Irwin County sitting strong at No. 1.
