Parkview is the team to beat in Class AAAAAAA with a flawless 9-0 record and victories over Roswell 3-0, Etowah 2-1, Berkmar 10-0 and Decatur 1-0 this month. No. 2 Lambert has also yet to be beaten has won two big road matches — against Milton 3-0 on March 5 and Campbell 1-0 on March 11 – this month. Peachtree Ridge, Lassiter and Roswell finish out the top-5.
In Class AAAAAA, Johns Creek leads the way and, since its 1-0 loss to Hillgrove on March 7, the Gladiators have won three matches against Kell 8-0, North Oconee 5-0 and Pope 4-0. Harrison is chasing and has momentum from a 4-0 victory over Creekview it will carry into its match at River Ridge on Friday. Dacula, Alpharetta and Cambridge make up the remainder of the top-5.
McIntosh is used to the target that’s on its back as the No. 1 team in Class AAAAA. The Chiefs are coming off a 4-3 victory over Class AAA No. 1 Westminster on Tuesday. The Chiefs have been flawless since the 1-1 tie with Northgate on Feb. 12. Decatur is second with just one dropped match and one tie on the year. Since losing to Class AAAAAAA No. 1 Parkview on March 1, Decatur has won three straight matches, all shutouts, against Jackson-Atlanta, Lithia Springs and Banneker.
Blessed Trinity is the team to beat in Class AAAA with an 8-1-0 record. The one loss, to Columbus 1-0 on Feb. 22, was answered by five-straight wins. In the streak, the Titans only allowed one goal while scoring 37. St. Pius X is second with Marist, Columbus and Flowery Branch filling the top-5.
Westminster leads Class AAA despite two losses on its record. On Feb 5, the Wildcats lost to Class AAAAAAA No. 2 Lambert 1-0. On Tuesday, it lost 4-3 to Class AAAAA No. 1 McIntosh. Greater Atlanta Christian, by virtue of a tough schedule, has four blemishes on its record but still maintains the No. 2 spot in the polls. Pike County, Lovett and Dawson County round out the top-5.
In Class AA, Vidalia is the team to beat with St. Vincent’s, Lamar County, Bremen and Model chasing. Vidalia is flawless on the year with a 9-0 record and victories over Coffee, Toombs and Metter this month. Second-ranked St. Vincent’s lost to top-ranked Vidalia 2-1 on Feb. 27 but responded with victories over Swainsboro 1-0 and Savannah Christian 3-0 this month.
First Presbyterian Day leads Class A this week with a 7-0 record. FPD has only allowed three goals on the year while scoring 48. Pinecrest Academy, Wesleyan, Brookstone and Athens Academy make up the top-5.
