Warriors suffer first regular season defeat since 2006

The football team suffered its first regular-season loss since 2006 last Friday. The Warriors fell to the Harrison Hoyas 21-14. The game was tied at the half 7-7, and running back Donatello Brown pulled the Warriors to within one score before they fell on the last drive of the game. After the emotional three-point win over M.L. King in the opener and this tough loss, head coach Shane Queen has to get his team focused before their next matchup against Kennesaw Mountain. … The softball team lost a tough game to Kell 6-2 in 10 innings last week. They had won their last five ballgames before the defeat. … The volleyball team has been up and down all year long. Their record stands at 11-10 after losing their last match against Flowery Branch at the Collins Hill Classic. … The boys cross country team placed 11th out of 16 teams in the Marist Double Dip Invitational. Leading the Warriors was Morris Wachori, who placed 47th overall with a time of 18:57. The cross country teams will have their next meet on Sept. 27.
