Warriors defeat Marietta, lose to Etowah to fall out of playoffs

The football team needed a win on Oct. 24 to stay in the playoff race. Despite a penalty-filled game, North Cobb outlasted Marietta 21-15 to even its record at 4-4. Evan Hester threw a touchdown pass to Rico Mack at the end of the first half and scored the game-winner on a 3-yard run with two minutes remaining. The next week was another crucial game for the team’s playoff hopes. The Warriors were not as successful this time, falling to Etowah 27-14. Hester threw three interceptions, which proved to be too much to overcome. Penalties once again plagued the team and the loss dropped its record to 4-5 and dashed any playoff hopes. The final game of the season will be played against South Cobb. … The cross country teams ran at the Reebok Coach Wood Invitational on Oct. 20. Alec Clifford came in with a boys team-best fifth place finish. The Region 5-AAAAA meet took place on Oct. 29. The Warriors came in fourth overall, led by Alec Clifford, who finished third individually. The girls came in seventh place.
