War Eagles handle Forsyth Central

The football team made the most of its bye week, and came into a matchup with Forsyth Central firing on all cylinders. Sam McNeary scored three times, twice on runs and once on a 30-yard interception return. Cole Truxillo also scored on a 49-yard scamper, and Patrick Sullivan added a 1-yard score in the 37-7 win. The War Eagles’ offense had to answer questions early in the season, but they have now scored an average of 40 points per game in their last three contests. The team has a crucial region matchup this Friday when it hits the road to face Miller Grove at 8 p.m. … The boys cross country team rode David Connolly’s 15:15 time, good for second overall, to a first-place finish at the Alexander Asics Invitational on Oct. 4. The team placed first overall. The girls finished second. … The volleyball team is heading into the Region 6-AAAA Tournament fresh off of victories over Sandy Creek, Starr’s Mill, and Landmark Christian on Thursday. … The softball team took home the region title thanks to a 2-0 sweep of Forsyth Central in the region title game last Friday. State sectionals begin this Friday.
