In Class AAAAAA, North Cobb jumped East Coweta for No. 3 with its 3-1 victory over the Indians. Pope replaces North Gwinnett in the poll and re-enters at No. 10. Allatoona replaced Grovetown in Class AAAAA after moving to a perfect 10-0 in Area 5-AAAA play.
In Class AAA, Blessed Trinity survived a 2-1 victory over Westminster and retained its No. 1 status. The loss to the Titans was Westminster’s first defeat since Sept. 13 (St. Pius 2-0). Fannin County jumped Morgan County and Southeast Bulloch for No. 8 after improving to 6-0 in area play.
Wesleyan swept Allatoona, Centennial, Mountain View and Rabun County in its first week as Class AA’s No. 1 team. The Wolves took over the top spot after dethroning Holy Innocents’ in three sets on Sept. 23. Holy Innocents’ has dropped four of its last six games (all to ranked opponents) but remains No. 2 with a Thursday night rematch with top-ranked Wesleyan looming. Lovett defeated Lamar County and scored a win by forfeit over Hapeville Charter in its area tournament and sits at No. 3. Coosa improved to No. 6 in this week’s poll after posting five-straight wins, including two over area-rival Darlington.
In Class A, Walker took over No. 6 after a 2-0 victory over Mt. Paran. Walker fell (27-25, 23-25, 24-26) on Senior Night to Mt. Paran two weeks ago, but avenged the loss swiftly with a (25-20, 25-15) victory on Tuesday. Fellowship Christian was able to sweep Mt. Paran this past weekend and sits at No. 6.
