Volleyball falls just short of Gwinnett County Championship

The football team crushed Chattahoochee 38-7 of Sept. 26 before taking last week off. Prince Kent hauled in two touchdowns in the win. The team received 164 rushing yards from star tailback D.J. Adams, and the defense sacked Cougar quarterback Brendan Cross seven times. The win was head coach Keith Maloof’s 66th at the school, tying the school record. Norcross travels to Northview this Friday. … After climbing to No. 9 in the recent GACA Coaches’ Poll, the volleyball team ran off seven straight wins, making a run to the Gwinnett County Championship game where the Lady Blue Devils fell to Wesleyan. Anjelica Wilcox had nine aces for Norcross, while Tiffany Clarke slugged 10 kills. Rachel Monteagudo tallied 63 assists for the tournament, including 25 in the finals. The team had previously beaten Collins Hill and Mill Creek to reach the finals. … Standout pitcher Alexandra Foulke has excelled all season, as she struck out eleven North Gwinnett Bulldogs in a recent loss. Foulke rebounded, as did the team, with a 3-2 win over South Forsyth. In addition to striking out eight, she collected two hits at the plate.
