
The state of Georgia produces some of the best softball talent in the nation and populates college rosters with fantastic, game-ready athletes. The talent-levels at the upper echelons of the sport are next-to-unrivaled.
With a glance at the latest college softball rankings, former Georgia high school softball players are not hard to find. South Carolina is ranked No. 10 in the nation according to Michella Chester, who ranks the collegiate softball programs for NCAA.com and the Gamecocks have a Top-10-leading five players from Georgia have helped the team through the season.
South Carolina features infielder Ella Chancey (Madison County), outfielder Carlie Henderson (Calhoun), pitcher Olivia Kotowski (Parkview), infielder Natalie Heath (Northgate) and outfielder Nia McKnight (Grayson).
LSU, ranked No. 4 in the latest poll, has three Georgia high school softball greats – outfielder Jadyn Laneaux (Pope), infielder McKaela Walker (Marietta) and utility Savanna Bedell (Northside-Columbus) – on the roster. Two west coast teams – No. 6 Oregon and No. 5 UCLA – each feature one player from Georgia. Taylor Tinsley featured for George Walton Academy before taking her talents to Los Angeles while Elyse Kresho played for Cherokee before heading to the Pacific Northwest.
