Turnovers do in Broncos against reigning AAAAA runner ups

The football team faced a stiff test when 2007 state finalist North Gwinnett and quarterback Michael Tamburo visited the Broncos. Brookwood tried to unleash running back Marvis Lane and sophomore quarterback Ben McLane early, and the Broncos took a 3-0 lead thanks to Wade Brogdon’s 28-yard field goal, but Tamburo’s 287 total yards helped the Bulldogs notch a 10-3 lead. Brookwood intercepted Tamburo and was in business with eight minutes to go, but the Broncos gave the ball right back on a turnover and North Gwinnett put the game out of reach with a late score to win 17-3. The loss was the fourth straight to North Gwinnett. Brookwood’s offense will now look for answers after only gaining four total first downs. … The softball team took a break from region play to meet up with Loganville, but came up short with a 5-4 loss. … The volleyball team faced a one-game deficit in its recent match with state power GAC but battled back to grab the second game 25-23. The Lady Broncos would fall in the final frame, however, and lost the match 2-1.
