Trojans pull off upset over Walton; Lutzenkirchen makes ‘Catch of the Year’

After suffering a tough loss to Milton on Oct. 17, the football team needed a win to stay in the playoff hunt. The team was able to do that on Oct. 24 with a 31-24 win over undefeated Walton. On Friday, the Trojans played in their last home game of the season when they faced Centennial. The Knights kept it close, as they were only down by seven early in the third quarter, but quarterback Hutson Mason and tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen took over and the Trojans went on to win, 49-24. Lutzenkirchen made the play of the game when he was trying to catch a ball out the back of the end zone, but tipped the ball back in bounds to one of the Trojan receivers. The ball was caught for a touchdown. With the win, the team is right back in the playoff mix and has an outside chance to win Region 6-AAAAA. The team will face Roswell on Friday. …The volleyball team took on Northview in the state semifinals last week and ended up losing in five games. Taylor Montgomery led the Lady Trojans with 21 kills and 10 blocks.
