Top Performers From The Second Round Of The Playoffs

Houston County QB Antwann Hill Jr - The Mr. Georgia finalist continues to put together impressive performances and it was more of the same on Friday night in a blowout 63-12 win over Lakeside-Evans. Hill was 17-of-20 passing for 440 yards and six touchdowns. Hill already set a team record for touchdown passes, surpassing Jake Fromm’s record in their first-round win over Clarke Central. He has completed 85% of his passes and continues to extend the program record for most passing touchdowns. His numbers are astronomical this year. Hill Jr has thrown for 3,626 yards and 44 touchdowns. The 44 touchdowns are a career-high in a season for Hill Jr. He now has two seasons in his career where he has thrown for 3,000 yards and 40 touchdowns, continuing to make his mark as one of the best passers to come through the state of Georgia. The Memphis-commit is something special and proves every game the true rare breed that he is.

Lee County QB Weston Bryan - The Georgia Southern-commit has been impressive this season for the Trojans and put together another dominant performance. In Friday’s victory against East Paulding, he went 11-of-16 passing for 213 yards and five touchdowns. On the ground, he rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns. This season he has 54 combined touchdowns (28 rushing, 26 passing). Bryan has been a threat with his legs and his arm this season and has made defenses pay. He is the leader of the No. 1 scoring offense remaining in the playoffs, averaging 54.3 points per game. Lee County has a legitimate shot at winning a state championship. It is not only because of Mr. Georgia finalist Ousmane Kromah but also because of the growth and progression of Bryan this season. He has been spectacular and is giving defenses fits every game.

Coffee RB Tyrese Woodgett - Woodgett had another dazzling performance for the defending state champion Coffee Trojans in a victory against Brunswick. He rushed for 217 yards and five touchdowns. Woodgett is averaging 135 yards per game and is playing his best football as of late. He has consecutive games of 200 or more rushing yards in the first two rounds. During that two-game span, he had 417 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Friday’s win over Brunswick marked his fourth game this season where he has rushed for over 200 yards in a game. His most impressive game came this season against Gadsden County (FL) where he rushed for a season-high 278 yards and two touchdowns.

Cambridge RB Tyler Blalock – In another impressive victory for the Cambridge Bears over Central-Carrollton, Blalock rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns. He is now just two yards shy of a 1,000-yard season. He has also rushed for 15 touchdowns this season. Blalock now has six games with 100 yards or more this year and six multi-TD games. He is often overlooked in this explosive offense for the Bears but has been a consistent piece in the running game all season. The Bears’ offense wouldn’t be as good without the balance and big plays that Cambridge provides.

Milton RB TJ Lester - One of the most underrated running backs in the country had another big-time performance for the Milton Eagles last Friday. Lester rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. He averaged 12.2 yards per rush. What gets lost a lot in this dominant run for the Eagles is how good they have been on the ground this season. Lester has rushed for 1,314 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground this season. He has seven games with more than 100 yards rushing. Lester also has seven games where he has rushed for two or more touchdowns. To put it simply, Lester should be on more college radars than he is. He can run it with some of the best in the country, catch it out of the backfield, and is also a great pass protector. He can do everything you need from a running back at the next level.

West Forsyth RB Foster Orris - It’s been another productive season for the senior running back who has set career-highs in rushing yards and touchdowns this season for the Wolverines. In a second-round victory against Archer, Orris rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns. During the first two games of the playoffs, he has 274 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Friday marked the fourth consecutive game he had rushed for 100 yards. He has been dangerous for the Wolverines this season and is seeing more and more touches as the playoffs progress. He will be one to watch in the quarterfinal matchup against Douglas County this week.

Carver-Atlanta ATH Terrious Favors - Favors did all he could to lead his team to victory over Appling County. He had a kickoff return for a touchdown and also had a receiving touchdown in the loss. Prior to the game, he was the leading receiver for the Panthers with 36 catches for 811 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also had 363 yards on kick and punt returns this season. Favors is one of the players you just need to put the ball into his hands and let him cook. Carver-Atlanta did that and reaped the benefits and got a special season from Favors because of it. Going into the 2025 season, Favors will be one to watch and likely will be a heavily recruited player very soon.

Houston County WR Isaiah “Bull” Mitchell - What a season it has been for the senior wide receiver. In a blowout win over Lakeside-Evans, he torched the defense for 269 receiving yards and three touchdowns, marking his eighth game this season with more than 100 yards receiving. Mitchell has scored a touchdown in every game except against Coffee. He is just 10 catches away from 100 catches on the season. In 2024, Mitchell has 90 catches for 1,661 yards and 19 touchdowns. Mitchell has been a consistent threat in the receiving game this year and has been a go-to receiver for Houston County. The Cincinnati commit also has four passing touchdowns this season. The Bears have used Mitchell in a multitude of ways this season and each time he has made big plays and made the defense pay.

North Gwinnett Safety Malekhi Weedon- Weedon had seven tackles and two interceptions in a 24-10 victory against Newton. Weedon has been a force at the safety spot this season for the Bulldogs and has 72 tackles (third on the team). Weedon also has six pass deflections, five interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. He has been one of the best defensive players for North Gwinnett this season in a star-studded class that includes Cole Funderburk, Braxton Kyle, Jake Godfree, and Chandler Jordan. That is saying something. The Arkansas State commit has continued to improve each year and has the Bulldogs in contention for a state title.

Blessed Trinity Kicker Noah Godhard- In a game where points were a premium, Godhard delivered for his team. He went 5-of-5 on field goal attempts knocking in kicks from 47, 42, 37, 36, and 35. He was reliable in Blessed Trinity’s victory against Jonesboro as the Titans scored only one touchdown on the night. Godhard came in and delivered a stellar performance. For the season, he is 16-of-19 this season with a long of 47 yards. He also has touchbacks on 46-of-62 kickoffs this year. Godhard is one of the leaders in the state in field goals made this season. Blessed Trinity is already in contention for a state title, but they have another weapon that can get them through if the offense struggles.
