Tucker linebacker Jonathan Davis is one of the state’s top-rated prospects, but after committing to play at South Carolina, he was reportedly informed Friday that the offer had been withdrawn. And after speaking with Steve Spurrier on Friday night, Davis’s head coach Franklin Stephens told the AJC that Spurrier and the Gamecocks are “no longer welcome” to recruit at Tucker High School.
“The bottom line … what South Carolina did to Jonathan was wrong,” Stephens said. “Coach Spurrier accepted blame for the situation … [but he] is not going to do anything to fix the situation, therefore South Carolina will not be recruiting any more Tucker players.”
