On the gridiron, Richmond Academy faced off against out-of-state opponent Midland Valley. Richmond’s Torri Taylor found pay dirt first from an 8-yard run to give the Musketeers the early lead with 9:19 left in the first and followed up with a second score later in the quarter. A 58-yard touchdown play from Midland kept them in the game, but Taylor struck again on a 65-yard scoring run to make it a 20-7 game in the first. Taylor struck again once more in the half, and once more in the fourth to give Richmond Academy a 46-14 lead and put away the win. The Musketeers racked up a blocked punt during the game, giving them a hefty four blocked punts in two games. This marks the first time the Richmond Academy program has been 5-0 since 1975. The Eastside Eagles shutout opponent North Clayton, scoring 34 of their 37 total points in the first half to grab the win and remain undefeated this season.
On the softball field, a five-run first inning by South Forsyth helped fuel their 7-3 region victory over Lambert. The War Eagles ended the night with a team total of 12 hits. The Marist War Eagles put together a five-run inning late in the sixth inning to go ahead of Blessed Trinity. They held on to win 5-3, giving them their seventh region win of the season. Down in the seventh inning, the Cambridge Bears mounted a comeback against Dunwoody in large part due to a grand slam by Sophomore Nikki Tanguay to take the lead and secure the region win. The Heard County Braves defeated Breen 1-0 to claim their ninth win in a row and stay undefeated in the region. West Forsyth defeated Forsyth Central on a tenth-inning walk off double by Lindsey Andrews to defeat the Bulldogs 2-1.
On the volleyball court, Union Grove swept Ola and Eagle’s Landing Christian 2-0 to extend their winning streak to 5 and remain undefeated in the region. Morgan County faced off against region opponent Jefferson, serving the Dragons their eighth loss of the season after a 2-0 sweep. Chattooga’s match against Dade County was a battle between the 9th an 10th ranked teams in class AA/A-Public. The favored Indians defeated Dade County 2-1 to create space between the two in the rankings. Dunwoody upset Buford in a close 3-2 match to serve the Wolves their sixth loss of the season.
