Thrashers break franchise record with sixth straight win

Kari Lehtonen stopped a career-high 49 shots to lead the Thrashers to victory over the Capitals on Monday night, 5-1. A few things made this win impressive: it was over the division-leaders; it was without an inujured Ilya Kovalchuk; and it broke a franchise record for most consecutive wins (six).

Lehtonen thwarted Washington’s Alexander Ovechkin again and again, stopping the 2008 MVP 10 times and surpassing his previous career high of 46 saves. It was also the goaltender’s 200th career game.
