The state of Georgia heavily included in newest studies on high talent production in the NFL

The NFL is back in full swing as teams kicked off their seasons two weeks ago and fans are more than happy to see their favorite organizations back in action.

For professional football fans in the state of Georgia and the Atlanta-area, they might have recognized a few more players than they thought as the NFL came out with statistics from its opening weekend about the personnel in the league.

To no surprise, the state of Georgia was heavily involved in the league’s research.

Research released by the NFL last Friday indicates that the state of Georgia has the fourth-most players in the league by state with 146 on NFL rosters.

Georgia only trails Texas (190), Florida (176) and California (168) in having more players in the league. Georgia has an influx of players from around the state on NFL rosters, including stars such as Tyreek Hill, Trevor Lawrence, Nick Chubb, Alvin Kamara and plenty of others all representing the state. In the league’s findings, they also included that the state of Georgia has the most NFL players per capita in the United States. Their studies show that Georgia has one NFL player per 73,369 people with a population of over 10 million people. Georgia leads states such as Louisiana (one player per 80,306), Alabama (one player per 85,157), Mississippi (one player per 89,736) and Washington D.C. (one player per 114,924) in the category with the number only seeming to rise in the near future.

The league’s research didn’t stop there as the NFL broke it down city-by-city with more Georgia representation included. In the leagues list of high school cities with the most players on NFL rosters, research shows that Atlanta has the fourth-highest total of players on professional rosters with 14 players. Georgia’s capital only trails Miami, FL (17), Las Vegas, NV (16) and Bradenton, FL (15) as the only cities to have more players rostered. Players such Gerald Everett, Leonard Floyd, and Lorenzo Carter each are examples of players from the city to make it to the pros.

The NFL didn’t stop there, giving the state of Georgia its flowers as they released another list, this time indicating which individual high schools produce the most NFL talent. Georgia’s Peachtree Ridge  High School Greater Atlanta Christian School were both featured on the in-depth list released from the league. The Peachtree Ridge Lions are tied for fifth with a handful of other schools with five players on rosters while the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans are tied for sixth with four players that are on NFL rosters. Former Peachtree Ridge Lions on NFL rosters now include seasoned veterans such as the Heyward brothers, Cameron and Connor, Robert Beal, Orlando Brown and Payne Durham. For the Spartans of Greater Atlanta Christian their NFL-rostered guys include quarterback Davis Mills, wide receivers Kalif Raymond and Darius Slayton and Atlanta Falcons safety Micah Abernathy.

For a long time, Georgia has been known to be one of the top states in terms of having high-class recruiting talent around the state. While many out-of-state fans believe that states such as Texas, Florida and California are in a league of their own, Georgia is not far behind consistently producing some of the top talent around the NFL.
