In this edition of The Official Visit, Score Atlanta’s all-recruiting radio show on 790 The Zone, hosts Scott Janovitz, Fletcher Proctor and Alex Ewalt interviewed Dooly County wide receiver Keith Mumphrey and Stephenson defensive tackle Mike Thornton. The guys also talked about a wide range of topics, including Florida State’s recruiting situation, last Friday’s Lowndes-Northside, Warner Robins game, and the top 10 Georgia recruits with the ball in their hands.

    Scott, Fletcher, Alex –

As a result of the recent graduations and suspensions impacting the secondary at Georgia, Mark Richt and his staff are recruiting defensive backs very hard at the moment. Last week they offered the first corner back from 2013 class, Shaquille Wiggins of Sandy Creek. Shaq had 9 picks last season and holds offers from more than a dozen FBS schools, including Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio State and Michigan. He is considered by some recruiting services as the top “cover corner” in the state for the class of 2013.

I think Shaq would make an excellent guest on your show for Feb. 20 or for the next week, Feb. 27. He can talk about the great emphasis Georgia/Richt/Bobo/McClendon/Garner are putting on defensive backs in this next recruiting class. As I said, Shaq is the first one they have offered!

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to set up an interview with Shaq. One of his training partners is Reuben Foster of Troup County, considered by many to be the state’s top recruit at linebacker and the second best recruit (next to Robert Nkemdiche of Grayson) over all in Georgia and in the country. Reuben has already committed to Alabama but Shaq is talking to him about Georgia! He can talk about all of this on your show.
