Spartans follow heartbreak with ecstacy in victory over Blessed Trinity

Following a heartbreaking 17-14 loss against Westminster on Sept. 26, the football team rebounded to pick up a big win last Friday, beating Blessed Trinity 31-28. Quarterback Colton Chapple had a masterful game, running the offense and pacing the defense with late plays to secure the win. Head coach Ken Robinson’s team played its best game of the season by far, as two receivers went over 100 yards receiving for the first time this season. Chapple went 13-of-20 passing for 249 yards and two touchdowns. He also thwarted a fake punt attempt late in the fourth quarter and broke up multiple other plays while at the safety position. The Spartans chose a good time to get their first win of the season, beating the seventh-ranked team in Class 2A. The next test for Greater Atlanta Christian will come on the road this Friday at Decatur’s brand new stadium when the Spartans take on the Bulldogs. … The softball team lost a close game 5-2 to defending Class 2A champions Buford last week in the opening game of the Class 2A Region 6-AA Tournament. The team’s next game will be against Westminster.
