Spartans fall to Chamblee, travel to Lakeside

The football team fell to Chamblee 41-0 last Thursday. Going into the game, the Spartans’ strategy was to contain Chamblee’s speed, keep their offense off the field, and to play physical football.

Assistant coach Elliott O’Neal had this to say on the loss: “We didn’t execute the game plan at all. Mentally, we weren’t there.” The Spartans head to Lakeside-DeKalb this Friday for a 7:30 kickoff. … The softball team lost to Southwest DeKalb 6-1, but beat both Miller Grove (17-2) and Chamblee (5-0) last week. The softball team will play Berkmar at home on Wednesday, travel to Dunwoody on Thursday, and host Holy Innocents’ at home on Friday. All three will begin at 5:55 p.m. … The volleyball team lost to Mt. Pisgah in straight sets (26-24, 25-20), but beat Banneker 2-0 (25-10, 25-13) last Thursday. On Saturday, the team lost to South Forsyth 2-0 (25-20, 30-28) and St. Pius X 2-0 (25-17, 25-16), and then beat Our Lady of Mercy 2-1 (20-25, 25-23, 26-24) and Dunwoody 2-0 (25-12, 25-10). They play Dunwoody at 5 p.m. and Columbia at 7 p.m. at home on Thursday.
