South Cobb edges Devils, 63-61

The Blue Devils hosted the Tuesday night game against a huge rival, the South Cobb Eagles. Marietta had a great start to the game with Kelcie Bedford winning another tip off and ending on top of the first half, 34-25. The South Cobb Eagles came back in the third quarter and turned it into a very close game. In the fourth quarter it was going both ways for the two rivals. With 38 seconds left in the game it was 61-59 with South Cobb leading the Devils. The Devils tied the game back up with eight seconds left at 61-61. South Cobb rushed down the court, breaking the Devils’ press with ease and scored a layup to make it 63-61 with two seconds left. The Devils couldn’t get past the Eagles’ full-court press and lost, 63-61. Brian Byrd for the Eagles had a big game with 18 points. Chris Tanzy had 18 points for the Blue Devils in the losing effort.
