Softball wins again, football travels to Marietta

After a successful winning season last year with an 8-4 record and a region record of 6-3, the Cherokee Warriors began this season in Class 5A after a two-year stint in Class 4A. The Warriors had a bye this week, but will travel for an away game this Friday at Marietta at 7:30 p.m. … The softball team, at press time, is also maintaining an impressive record of 9-2 with a 3-0 region record. Pitcher Abbey Meixel, bound for Kennesaw State University next year, is having a great season with another win this week against South Cobb, 11-1. She allowed only one hit with 14 strikeouts and has an average of 15.7 strikeouts per game this year. Catcher Sharon Swanson also helped out in the win at South Cobb, as she went 4-for-4 with four runs and three RBIs. Natalie Rhodes also went 2-4 in the contest, and the Lady Warriors finished with 13 hits as a team.
