Ryan Marcano provided the offense and Victor Salcido made the lead stand up as Riverside Military defeated East Jackson 5-1 Monday afternoon. Marcano tallied three goals while Oliseabuka Madichie and Ricardo Rivera each punched one in for the Eagles. The lone goal allowed by Salcido was actually deflected in by a Riverside defender. The Pope girls also thumped Paulding County 10-0 Monday night.
In action from the weekend, North Gwinnett edged Northview 2-1. Lauren Harriman and Taylor Burns each scored for the Bulldogs. Brookwood also defeated the Walton girls by the same 2-1 score. The Broncos prevailed with a 5-4 advantage on penalty kicks. Taylor Strickland saved the final penalty kick to snag the win.
Rachael Pfeiffer was a stonewall in goal for Archer as the Lady Tigers blanked Lanier 2-0. Megan Wilson and Caroline Mangum had the scores for Archer.
The Buford girls and boys each thumped South Atlanta by a 10-0 score. Brooke Horist tallied a hat trick for the Lady Wolves while eight different boys scored in the boys victory.
The defending Class AAAAA boys champion Walton suffered a 3-1 loss to Brookwood when Adrian Alabi found the back of the net twice for the Broncos. Brahan Gamarra also notched a goal in the scorer’s book.
The Columbus boys remained undefeated with a 1-0 win over Hardaway over the weekend. Kyle Phillips found Luke Butterfield who would find the back of the net near the midpoint of the second half. Sam Dunton finished with five saves to earn the shutout victory in goal for Columbus. The Columbus girls managed to sneak away with a 1-0 road win over Grady. Madison Snee scored nine minutes into the game for Columbus and the lead would hold thanks to Anna Scogin’s 13 saves.
