Senior QB shines in seven point loss

The football team is looking to make its way back to the playoffs in 2008 after reaching the Promised Land last season with a 5-2 region record. The team got off to a huge start, but came up short in a 24-17 loss to Norcross. Senior quarterback Michael Polascik was 22-for-32 for 276 yards and one touchdown. Despite an 80-yard touchdown run from Aaron Wimberly, the Comets fell to 0-1. … The softball team won the Copper Division of the South Gwinnett Diamond Classic with a 9-1 victory over Monroe Area and later a 10-0 shutout win over Chamblee. For the tournament, the team finished 2-3-1 after losing to Oconee County despite an RBI double from Rachel Ludick and Lindsey Hogan’s 1-for-2, two-run effort. Jordan Suther scored the game-winning run, as the team beat Shiloh 8-7 last Thursday. Ludick was 3-for-3 in the game. … A pair of juniors will lead the girls cross country team this season in Megan Willis and Crystal Pratt.
