SEC to expand web coverage, Henry County’s Ambles selects Vols, and Thrashers sign Forney

If the league’s expanded t.v. coverage isn’t enough, the SEC announced Tuesday it will launch the SEC Digital Network, which will provide access to a wide range of content via the Internet and mobile devices.

Content won’t include live games, but the league said full replays and searchable highlights will be available, along with post-game interviews, press conferences and breaking news. Much of the content will be available within minutes of a game’s conclusion, in addition to nearly 10,000 hours of video available from the SEC’s library.

The Tennessee Volunteer football program got a big jolt on Tuesday when Henry County receiver Markeith Ambles gave head coach Lane Kiffin and the Volunteers his verbal commitment. Ambles reportedly attempted to commit to the University of Florida last weekend at the team’s Friday Night Lights football camp, but apparently did not fit into Florida’s plans.

Ambles, at 6-2, 180 pounds, is a dynamic wideout and the seventh-ranked player at his position nationally, according to Rivals.com. For more on his commitment, click here.

The Thrashers added to the team last night with the singing of Michael Forney, the team’s 2006 draft pick. It is reportedly a multi-year deal. The third-round draft had 60 points (26 goals, 34 assists) in 59 games for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League last season.
