The semifinals are set after a great weekend of soccer. No. 2 Centennial was upset by Harrison in a classic match, Region 6 dominated the rest of the AA field in sending three teams to the semifinals and Berkmar qualified for its first semifinals appearance in program history.

Class AAAAAA
Berkmar 6, North Cobb 1: Berkmar advanced to its first semifinals appearance in program history after taking a 4-0 halftime and cruising through the second half. Six different Patriots scored including Kofi Twumasi, Alexis Montanez, Gabriel Guerra, Matteo Gallardo, Victor Guerra and Israel Lopez. Juan Carlos Lopez was in goal for most of the game until being replaced by Braulio Cobarubias with 20 minutes left.
Collins Hill 6, Newnan 1: Host Collins Hill netted six goals from six different players before Newnan got on the board late in the second half. Martin Sedarri opened the scoring off a pass from Eli Carrasco. Carrasco moved the Eagles ahead 2-0 with a goal, and Paul Ille knocked in a third before the half. Carrasco finished the game with three assists. Juan Romero, Juan Restrepo and Zach Lane each scored in the second half, and Jackson Taylor handled the goalkeeping duties in the win.
East Coweta 3, Lambert 2: Visiting Lambert’s Cooper Coughlin gave the Longhorns a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute of the first half. Two minutes after Lambert took its lead, Conner Antley tied it up with a header. In the 50th minute Antley moved the Indians in front 2-1, and in the 64th minute, scored his third goal off the header. A minute later, Coughlin answered with his second goal moving the score to 3-2.
Harrison 2, Centennial 1: Harrison clinched its first semifinals berth in boys soccer since its championship year of 2007 with a comeback win over visiting Centennial. Senior Nathan Vickroy blasted in a loose ball with six minutes left to give Harrison the lead. After Centennial took a 1-0 lead two minutes into the second half on a 20-yard free kick by Sterling Wendt, Harrison knotted the game on a header by Kennit Fosuhene just five minutes later. Hoyas goalie Kevin McKay made seven saves and Harrison outshot the Knights 9-7.
Class AAAAA
McIntosh 6, Lakeside-DeKalb 1: Carson Brooks scored three goals for McIntosh as the Chiefs rolled into the semifinals. Brooks opened the scoring on a header off an Adam Sheikali cross midway through the first half. Lakeside-DeKalb tied it up on a penalty kick, which was just the second goal given up all season by senior goalkeeper Sergio Saleh and the brilliant Chiefs’ defense. Sheikali assisted two Weston Taylor headers to break the tie and close the half 3-1 in favor of the Chiefs. Brooks scored a second goal just 33 seconds into the second half, and Dimitris Yokaris followed it up with another goal to move the lead to 5-1. Brooks completed his hat trick with 24 minutes remaining.
Pope 1, Windsor Forest 0: The Greyhounds outshot visiting Windsor Forest 17-4, but had to cling to a 1-goal lead for most of the match. In the 20th minute of the first half, senior midfielder Colin Huber found the back of the net from 16 yards out after fellow senior Zach McCown found him from the end line to account for the game’s lone goal. Pope goalie Sean Hatcher made two saves in keeping a clean sheet. The Greyhounds dominated possession for much of the game, but struggled to put away a stubborn Windsor Forest squad that sent most of its players back to defend the net.
Starr’s Mill 1, Allatoona 0: Host Starr’s Mill and Allatoona entered the half scoreless, and the drought continued until Brandon Oot scored off a Walter Hix assist with 23 minutes remaining in the game. Starr’s Mill goalkeeper Mitch Pattison kept the clean sheet as the Panthers outshot the Buccaneers 9-1.
Class AAAA
Dalton 10, Jonesboro 0: Host Dalton scored its first goal in the eighth minute off a strike from Ramiro Huitanda. Alan Pantaleon scored soon after and was followed by a second Huitanda’s score. Huitanda’s goal was again matched by Pantaleon who found returned to the back of the net for the 4-0 lead. Andres Barragan scored Dalton’s fifth goal and a Ryan Czyz penalty kick upped the lead to 6-0 at the half. Javier Rodriguez opened the second half with a score and goals from Victor Solis and Yohan Ulloa followed to make it 9-0 Catamounts. Huitanda stamped his hat trick with his third goal in the 25th minute that resulted in the game being called due to the mercy rule.
Class AA
Greater Atlanta Christian 5, Vidalia 1: Brendan Dickerson got host GAC on the board in the 20th minute and the Spartans led 2-0 at the half after a Davis Bryan score. The second half opened with a Vidalia goal, but the Spartans responded with the final three scores. Five different Spartans scored in the victory, including Dickerson, Bryan, Connor Pendery, Max Gomas and Jordan Arnold.
Lovett 3, Benedictine 2: The visiting Lions tied the game with just over three minutes remaining on a goal by Harrison Leeson off an assist from Jack O’Neal. After a scoreless overtime period, Lovett won the contest 4-3 in penalty kicks as goalie James Foster saved a Benedictine shot and another was off the mark. Alan Floyd scored the Lions’ first goal with eight minutes left in the first half to tie the game at one.
Westminster 8, Toombs County 0: Chris Ottley tallied a hat trick and Westminster overcame sloppy field conditions to advance to the semifinals against Buckhead neighbor Lovett. The host Wildcats took a commanding 5-0 lead at the half behind two goals from Ottley and one each from Trey Blasingame, Harrison Butker and John Sanders. Ottley, Butker and Adam Suskin added goals in the second half. Ben Wood played the majority of the game in goal and was relieved by freshman John Sadlowski with 20 minutes left.
Class A
First Presbyterian 1, Our Lady of Mercy 0: Visiting First Presbyterian went into the half scoreless, but Vikings junior Bradley Mullis found Christian Moore with 30 minutes left in the game on a cross, and the Vikings captured a 1-0 advantage. Vikings goalkeeper Jeremy Overman earned the shutout.
Paideia 8, Holy Innocents’ 1: The Pythons cruised into the semifinals behind three goals from Quill Yates and two more from Malcolm Singleton. Gustavo Martinez was fouled in the penalty box, allowing Paideia a penalty kick, which Eli Pinner knocked in to give the host Pythons a 4-1 halftime lead. The goal was Pinner’s 37th in his career. Senior Robert Hines led a stout Paideia defense while goalie Patrick Wilkerson kept Holy Innocents’ at bay before exiting the game with 25 minutes left.
