Roswell 45, Pebblebrook 7
How the game was won: Roswell broke a scoreless tie midway through the second quarter to quickly take a 17-0 halftime lead and take a 45-0 advantage before Pebblebrook scored early in the fourth quarter.
Top performers: Roswell quarterback Malik Willis threw for four touchdowns—one each to Kentrell Barber (33 yds), Jayden Comma (18 yds), Xavier McKinney (15 yds) and Gabe Reeves (8 yds)—and scored the Hornets’ final touchdown on a 20-yard run. Jajuan White had an 8-yard rushing TD for Roswell, and Turner Barckhoff scored the Hornets’ first points on a field goal after a Pebblebrook fumble in its own territory.
Stratford Academy 35, Holy Innocents’ 7
How the game was won: A steady ground game helped the Eagles soar into the second round of the Class A-Private playoffs where they will face region rival Tattnall Square Academy.
Top Performers: Tyler Jordan got the scoring started with a touchdown run in the first quarter. Russell Mole tacked on a pair of rushing touchdowns before Kasey Sanders added two scores of his own.
Mt. Pisgah 35, Athens Christian 26
How the game was won: Mt. Pisgah led 35-13 heading into the fourth quarter when Athens Christian rallied for two touchdowns to make it a two-possession game with seven minutes to play. The Pisgah defense held from there to give the Patriots the road win.
Top performers: Pisgah quarterback Jacob Cendoya threw for three long touchdowns—two to Kai Williams and one to Price Brazzel—and rushed for a 7-yard score in the first quarter. Williams also had a 5-yard rushing TD. Thomas McGee recovered a fumble for the Patriots.
Westlake 24, Etowah 23
How the game was won: Westlake got a fourth-quarter field goal of 23 yards from James Miller with five seconds left to hold off visitor Etowah. The Lions scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and recovered from a 17-0 second-quarter deficit to come back.
Top performers: Westlake’s Ravaughn Burch threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to AJ Terrell and a 14-yard scoring pass to Adrian Bryant with 4:27 to play in the fourth quarter to pull within 23-21. Terrell got the Lions on the board in the second quarter with a 3-yard TD run. Miller hit the field goal and all three PATs. Etowah’s Tyray Devezin rushed for 239 yards on 38 carries and started the game with touchdown runs of 45 and 35 yards, and Cameron Allen hit field goals of 38, 36 and 28 yards for the Eagles.
Lovett 49, Dawson County 28
How the game was won: Lovett scored 49 of the game’s last 63 points to sprint past host Dawson County. The Lions trailed 14-0 before finally getting on the scoreboard with eight minutes remaining in the second quarter, at which point they were off to the races. Lovett still trailed 21-14 at halftime but it outscored the Tigers 14-0 in the third quarter and 21-7 in the fourth.
Top performers: Lions’ quarterback Brady Tindall completed 21 of 39 passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns. Tindall tossed a pair of scoring strikes to Nick Jackson, who finished with 56 yards on three receptions. Peyton Ringer racked up 105 yards and a touchdown on five receptions for Lovett, while K.J. Wallace made nine catches for 85 yards and scored touchdowns both on the ground and via a reception. Tindall also rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown. Dawson County was led by Coey Watson, who passed for 383 yards and accounted for four total touchdowns (three through the air, one on the ground). Nick Murphy had seven receptions for 158 yards and two scores to help the Tigers’ effort.
Westminster 49, North Hall 18
How the game was won: Hosting a playoff game for the first time since 2010, Westminster scored seven rushing touchdowns to overwhelm North Hall. The Wildcats led 14-0 after quarter, 28-6 at halftime, and 35-12 going into the fourth quarter. North Hall could have been within 21-6 at the intermission, but the defending Class AAA state champions got a 50-yard touchdown run from Zay Malcome with 10 seconds remaining.
Top performers: Malcome finished with five rushing touchdowns of four yards, nine yards, 29 yards, 43 yards, and 50 yards. He had 129 yards and three scores on just 11 carries in the first half alone. Westminster quarterback Ward Croft scored his team’s first and last touchdowns, also on the ground. Jack Brown had two rushing TDs for the Trojans and he also hauled in a 33-yard scoring strike from Jackson Madonna.
Woodward Academy 42, Upson-Lee 0
How the game was won: Woodward Academy quarterback Ryan Glover connected with Joshua Johnson on a 25-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and a 50-yard touchdown pass 2:26 into the second quarter to build a 14-0 lead. Glover tossed his third touchdown pass to Cade Sutherland from 33 yards out to increase the lead to 21-0 just 1:32 later. The War Eagles added to their 21-0 halftime lead with a Tajh Gary 9-yard touchdown run with 5:23 left in the third quarter. On the final play of the third quarter, Glover tossed his fourth touchdown and third score to Johnson from 4-yards out. Jalen Polk increased the lead to 42-0 with a 1-yard touchdown with 6:11 left in the game.
Top performers: Ryan Glover completed 14-of-18 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns. Joshua Johnson caught eight passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Tahj Gary led Woodward Academy’s ground game with 75 yards and a touchdown off of his 11 carries.
