Hornets fall to Eagles in rivalry game, will host Walton

The football team lost to rival Milton on Friday night despite holding Tennessee-bound running back Toney Williams to less than 100 yards rushing. Unfortunately for Roswell, keeping Williams in check wasn’t enough as the Hornets lost for only the fourth time in the last 27 matchups between the teams. The game was back and forth throughout, with the Eagles delivering the final blow with less than five seconds remaining on the clock. Milton connected on a 10-yard touchdown pass to close out the game, 20-19. Brian Hickman threw for 216 yards, but also had two costly interceptions in the loss. Duval Smith had a 3-yard touchdown run for the Hornets. This Friday, the Hornets host Walton before closing out the season against Lassiter. … The boys cross country team finished fourth in the Reebok Coach Wood Invitational. The Hornets were paced by Andrew Lagasse who finished eighth overall. Michel Duley put in a solid performance as well, finishing 15th. Both the girls and boys squads will compete in the Region 6-AAAAA meet on Thursday.
