With Ed Dudley’s departure to Ware County two weeks ago, Walton High School has announced that defensive coordinator Rocky Hidalgo will be promoted to head coach, accoding to the AJC’s Todd Holcomb.
Hidalgo has been part of the program since 1996, Dudley’s second season as head coach, and was the longest-tenured assistant under Dudley. He became defensive coordinator in 2002.
In 14 seasons with Walton, Dudley led the Raiders to the postseason in 12 of them. Walton reached the Class 5A state semifinals in 2004 and 2007.
