Two of Georgia’s Big Three were named to the 2012 McDonald’s All-America game. Miller Grove’s Tony Parker was named to the East Squad as was Shaq Goodwin of Southwest DeKalb. Goodwin is listed as the No. 21 prospect in the nation and is headed to Memphis. Parker, meanwhile, is listed No. 22 but is one of five uncommitted players participating in the game. According to Scout.com, Parker’s top choices include Ohio State, Duke, Kansas and UCLA.
We are now getting used to high school football players pledging to programs as juniors, but this practice has been going on for years on the basketball scene. It shouldn’t have been surprising that Mark Fox and Georgia snared a point guard from the 2013 class in J.J. Frazier of Faith Baptist Christian (Ludowici, GA). Rivals lists Frazier as 5-foot-8, 150-pounds. He can sign with the Dawgs this November during the Fall signing period. Georgia has a commitment from Milton point guard Charles Mann, a 6-foot-5 athlete, in this year’s class.
Milton may well win the Class AAAAA title this year, and should the Eagles capture the crown, Tevin Glass will likely be a huge part of the success. The 6-foot-8 200-pound PF is a rebound machine and can score in bunches from in close. According to Scout.com, Auburn and Georgia have shown interest, but only Georgia Southern, Georgia State and Nevada have offered Glass. Should he perform well, perhaps his gamble will pay off much like Miller Grove’s Donte Williams’ gamble did from a few years back. Williams was offered a scholarship by Georgia after helping the Wolverines to a Class AAAA title in 2010.
