The Georgia Bulldogs have been hot of late in the recruiting game. After a slow start building up to National Signing Day 2012, the Dawgs are off to a hot start for National Signing Day 2013. Georgia landed a trio of commitments over the weekend including one from Valdosta’s Aulden Bynum and one from a player new to Brookwood Kyrin Priester. Mark Richt and company also secured a pledge from linebacker Ryne Rankin out of Orlando. Priester is a 6-foot-2 wide receiver that recently moved to Snellville from Florida. Georgia fans will have a chance to watch Priester in the upcoming Corky Kell Classic at the Georgia Dome. Meanwhile Bynum will play offensive line at 6-foot-5. This morning the Dawgs grabbed South Gwinett’s Reggie Carter, a linebacker who pledged to Georgia over South Carolina and Florida State. Carter was injured in the first game of the year in 2011 after transferring from Stephenson. Finally the Bulldogs pulled in Camden County’s J.J. Green this afternoon. The 5-foot-9 athlete is amazingly quick and 247Sports has him rated as the No. 28 cornerback in the nation and the No. 31 prospect from Georgia. The debate will rage on whether Green will play defensive back or wide receiver at Georgia. He has posted 4.4 speed but his size has shifted him in the minds of many to the defensive side of the ball. On last week’s The Official Visit on 790 The Zone, co-host Fletcher Proctor included him as one of the top receiver prospects in the state while Scott Janovitz projected him on the defensive side of the ball. The three-star player also held offers from Georgia Tech, Stanford, Mississippi State and Duke. Green is a teammate of current Georgia commitment Brice Ramsey, who has said he plans to enroll early in Athens following the 2012 football season. It is not known at this time whether Green too will look to enroll early at UGA. Camden County will open up the season at the Georgia Dome in the Corky Kell Classic.
The Georgia Bulldogs missed out on Joshua Outlaw, an offensive line prospect from ML King as the 6-foot-4 Score 24 2Look4 member committed to Florida over the weekend. SB Nation reported Outlaw as holding offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Rutgers among others.
Miller Grove boys basketball coach Sharman White told Score Atlanta recently that uncommitted star Tony Parker would announce his college decision Wednesday. Now several services are reporting that Parker will make several more visits before deciding. The four-time GHSA champion has narrowed down his selections to Duke, Kansas, Georgia, Ohio State and UCLA though Memphis, Georgetown and Kentucky have been making a push of late. Contrary to some reports, none of Parker’s top five have been ruled out according to White in an interview with Score Atlanta. College basketball’s regular signing period begins tomorrow, and players can sign through May 16.
