RECRUITING BUZZ: Taylor visits Ole Miss; Adams visits Auburn

North Atlanta’s Justin Taylor visited Ole Miss over the weekend and will decide between playing immediately for the Rebels next year or donning a “grey-shirt” at Alabama. If he were to sign with the Tide, Taylor would not be able to attend school at Alabama on scholarship until 2013. The running back prospect tore his ACL this past season, which caused Nick Saban to tell Taylor he could not sign with the Tide’s 2012 recruiting class. North Atlanta head coach Stanley Pritchett has been outspoken with his resentment of Alabama’s waffling on Taylor. Pritchett himself was highly recruited out of high school and spent his playing days as a fullback at South Carolina. … Junior Gnonkonde of Lanier County committed to North Carolina on his visit Sunday. Gnonkonde, a defensive end, is a former Georgia Tech commitment, but was told he did not qualify academically. … Former UGA commitment Chester Brown pledged to Central Florida over the weekend according to the AJC. However, Chip Towers reported this morning that Brown’s high school coach, Jim Walsh, said “I’m not sure of the accuracy of (the commitment). We’ve had some recent things going on.” Brown has received much nationwide interest since decommitting from Georgia and will discus these opportunities with Walsh this morning. …Tucker LB Josh Dawson is committed to Vanderbilt, but Georgia’s coaches are not giving up. Bulldogs defensive coordinator Todd Grantham and recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner visited Dawson Saturday before the end of the contact period (midnight Saturday). Despite Vandy hauling in one of its best recruiting classes in recent memory, Georgia still stands to have a good chance in getting Dawson to switch. … Adel WR Travin Henry committed to Georgia Tech Sunday over UAB, Memphis, Georgia State and MTSU. The Cook County product also played LB in high school, but was recruited by Tech to play WR. … Sandy Creek OL Will Adams is committed to Tech, but visited Auburn over the weekend. Adams was offered by both the Tigers and Georgia this past week, but elected to visit Auburn. One development that may affect Adams’ decision is that Tech fired co-OL coach Todd Spencer over the weekend. Adams will decide between Auburn and Tech on Wednesday … Michael Carvell of the AJC reported Saturday that Buford CB Ryan Dillard switched from Air Force to Yale. Dillard is one of nine Buford seniors committed to college programs right now. … Keithon Redding of Columbia committed to Southern Miss over the weekend. The wide receiver prospect was once a Tennessee pledge.
