RECRUITING BUZZ: Georgia enters Nkemdiche’s top five

Good news UGA fans: the nation’s No. 1 prospect for the 2013 class, Grayson’s Robert Nkemdiche has put the Georgia Bulldogs into his brand new top five … which has six teams in it, according to Michael Carvell of the AJC. Nkemdiche took a visit to Georgia several weeks back and reportedly enjoyed the visit, but at the time Georgia didn’t quite crack Nkemdiche’s top five. Now, though, Georgia is in the top five along with Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Clemson and South Carolina. Fans will get a chance to watch Grayson and Nkemdiche this year in the 2012 Metro PCS Corky Kell Classic on Aug. 25 on GPB TV, then again Nov. 1 at Archer on WSB.

Tony Parker of Miller Grove is competing in tonight’s semifinals at the Gwinnett Arena, but he was in Lawrence, Kan., recently on an official visit. Parker took in the Jayhawks win over Missouri, and his father told SNY.tv that the visit had “a really good atmosphere.” At one point Parker tweeted, “I sat next to Larry Brown today at the game the best atmosphere in my life.” Parker’s father admitted that Parker will likely announce his choice at the McDonald’s All-America game March 28 in Chicago. He will choose between Kansas, UCLA, Duke, Ohio State, Memphis and Georgia. Kentucky and UConn are no longer in the mix, according to Zagsblog.com.

Score 44′s Jaron Blossomgame’s high school career ended with Chattahoochee’s 68-63 loss to Southwest DeKalb, but the future Clemson Tiger went out with a bang. After scoring 25 in the team’s second-round 91-65 win over Douglas County, Blossomgame nearly led the Cougars to an upset over the Panthers with 32 points and 10 rebounds. Blossomgame scored 14 straight points over the second and third quarters. The Chattahoochee senior committed to Clemson Feb. 12, 2011.
