Much has been made of Archer’s Antonio Riles and the SEC powers battling for the stud defensive end. However Archer defensive back Trey Cheek will also sign with a BCS school next February after pledging Monday night to Cal of the Pac-12. The 5-foot-10 defensive back received a three-star rating from Rivals.com and becomes the second Georgia player to commit to Cal sight-unseen, joining Shon Akins of Norcross. Cheek told CaliforniaGoldenBlogs.com that he is planning to visit Berkeley April 21 for Junior Day.  He also held offers from Kentucky and UCF and was receiving interest from Arkansas, Tennessee, Clemson, Louisville and Wisconsin.

The state of Georgia was thrown for a loop when Troup’s Reuben Foster decided to transfer to Auburn (Ala.) High School for his senior season. Troup head football coach Charles Flowers was let go back in February, and the linebacker claimed then that he would transfer. The No. 2 recruit in the nation according to Rivals100 has commmitted to sign with Alabama. The move immediately elevates him from the No. 2 recruit in Georgia behind Robert Nkemdiche to the No. 1 recruit in Alabama. The University of Georgia has been recruiting him incredibly hard despite his pledge to Nick Saban.

The Clemson Tigers may have gotten a leg up in the race for Grayson’s Nkemdiche. Grayson teammate Wayne Gallman committed yesterday to Dabo Swinney and the Tigers. The running back reportedly chose the Tigers over offers from UGA and Georgia Tech and interest from Florida State.
