Quick TDs and stingy defense is recipe for success for Tucker

The football team recorded yet another solid victory last Friday, defeating Region 6B-AAAA Lithonia by a score of 35-0. Though head coach Franklin Stephens had his concerns, injuries suffered in a Week 2 dismantling of Lakeside-DeKalb (50-0) did not slow the Tigers down. Tucker wasted no time either, scoring two quick touchdowns to take an early 14-0. From there, the Tigers continued to roll, building a comfortable 28-0 halftime lead. Undefeated so far, Tucker has scored a total of 111 points and has only given up 12 points thus far. In football news away from the field, Georgia Tech linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary offered Tucker’s Jonathan Davis a scholarship on Tuesday. Though tempted, the senior linebacker has decided to talk to his parents and visit with Tech coaches and players before making his final decision. … Last week was a tough one for the softball team, as it was defeated 9-0 by Southwest DeKalb. The Tigers have a chance to rebound this week in a game against Marist. … The volleyball team was defeated last Thursday by McIntosh 2-0. They will have an opportunity to rebound this week with games against Stone Mountain , Lakeside-DeKalb, Parkview and Mill Creek.
